The Roughettes took on Kingdom Prep last Thursday night in Sundown and started fast, scoring 12 points in the first quarter to Kingdom Prep Academy's nine. Sundown did not let up, outscoring the opponents in every quarter. #24 YaYa Lopez lead the Roughettes in scoring with 12 points, and right behind Yaya was Allie Mcormick with 11 points. The Roughettes beat KPA with a booming score of 46-39. The JH Red Girls have a 6-0 record overall and a 4-0 in district.
On Saturday the JH Red team traveled to Nazareth to take on the Swiftettes. The girls in red outlasted Naz 49-44 leading by ten points at half, but giving up the lead in the third quarter. The Roughettes fought back in the fourth quarter winning by five. Allie McCormick scored 19 in the win, followed by Maya Martinez with 13. Yaya Lopez had 11 points. The team went 7-10 from the freethrow line, sealing the victory. All the girls contributed defensively leading to a solid team win. Their record stays unblemished and improved to 7-0 overall on the season. Way to go Roughettes!
