Sundown ISD COVID protocols for the 2021-2022 school year.
Masks, social distancing
The district is not mandating mask-wearing. Face coverings are optional for students, staff and visitors.
Social distancing will be maintained when feasible.
Bus rides will remain at the typical district capacity. (Not mentioned above.)
Sanitizing
Proper hand washing and respiratory etiquette for students and staff will be expected throughout the day.
The district will disinfect campuses and facilities daily, with an emphasis on high-touch surfaces.
Classrooms with a lab-confirmed case of COVID-19 will receive additional disinfection.
Hand sanitizer will be provided in classrooms, entrances and common areas.
COVID-19 tracing, testing and quarantining
Administrators will not always contact trace after each positive case on campus; however, when it is obvious a student has been exposed to COVID administrators will notify parents.
Students and staff will not be required to quarantine for exposure.
Students and staff are expected to stay home if any COVID related symptoms occur after a close contact exposure. They can return after being symptom free for 24 hours or after receiving a negative COVID test.
I hope this clarifies our COVID expectations for the start of this school year. If there becomes a need to make any changes, you will be notified as soon as possible.
Go Roughnecks and Roughettes!
