Sundown ISD would like to welcome Melissa Miller to the elementary campus! Growing up, Mrs. Miller lived in a small town called Devine, and later moved to Levelland where she graduated. After high school, Miller went to college at SPC, later transferring to Texas Tech University.
Mrs. Miller’s family includes her husband, David, her two sons Briar, a freshman, and Case, a third grader. Her only daughter Beau Grace is in first grade. The Miller’s house consists of six family pets: Gitta (Rottweiler), Coach (Maltipoo), Moon and Pouncer (cats), Sam (tarantula), and lastly Templeton (a bearded dragon).
Melissa is the new Special Education teacher for the elementary campus. She was inspired by her third grade teacher, who loved and cared for her students. Showing kindness to all of her students made an impression on her to realize different students have different ways of approaching school, whether it is academics, athletics, or anything of that sort. Choosing Sundown, Miller was aware of how good Sundown is when it comes to making sure kids are comfortable with what they do. When asked about Sundown ISD, “Even though our school excels in academics, I feel like we also give a 100% in molding young hearts to be good humans.”
Other than teaching, Miller also has an interest in real estate. She is a realtor with Paxton Real Estate out in Levelland. She enjoys competitive marketing and watching the market fluctuate. She is a big fan of traveling around with her family whenever they have the chance. She loves watching movies, with Remember the Titans being her favorite. Her favorite quote is, “You’re going to be happy, said Life, but first I’ll make you strong.” To her, this quote embodies the spirit of resilience and forgiveness. "Life throws a lot of curveballs at you. You can’t go through life without either,” Mrs. Miller states.
Please give Melissa Miller a warm welcome to Sundown ISD! We are more than happy to have her here!
