Sahaira Reyes became a Roughette in 9th grade and is now getting ready to graduate with the Class of 2022. Sahaira’s favorite memory from high school was during cheer practice when she tried to do a kick but instead ended up landing right on her backside.
Sahaira participated in softball all four years of high school, powerlifting every year, leadership her junior year, LD debate her junior and senior year, informative speaking her junior and senior year, Congress her senior year, and theater her freshman year to junior year.
As Sahaira was competing in the classroom and in athletics, she was able to advance in the following events: regional powerlifting her junior year, regionals for LD debate her 11th grade year, and earned the Blue Collar defensive award in softball her junior year. Academically she earned a Merit Award for English, Algebra, and theater her freshman year, and the academic excellence departmental award in theater arts her junior year.
Sahaira was involved in theater which was also her favorite class in high school. She plans on going to the University of New Mexico to study pre-med. Sahaira’s favorite quote is "In the end, only three things matter; how much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully you let go of things not meant for you.” by Buddha.
Coach Gonzales has served as Sahaira's role model. Her words of wisdom to the underclassmen are, “Cherish every second of these next couple of years because it goes by faster than you think.” Best of luck in your future endeavors, Sahaira!
