Congratulations to Kaytlin Clausen, Avy McGlasson, and Jaymee Medrano for being recognized as one of the best in the state by the Texas Girls Coaches Association. Kaytlin and Avy were selected as a part of the TGCA 2A All-State Team and Jaymee earned the distinction of TGCA Academic All-State. These ladies have put in a lot of hard work in both the classroom and in competition to represent our school with distinction.

Winners announced today for the Hockley County Soil & Water Conservation poster contest. Congratulations to Meagan Campbell (5th grade) and Tatum Blount (4th grade). They both placed first in their class. Then Meagan won 1st overall for Hockley County and Tatum 2nd overall for Hockley County. Their posters will advance to Area competition which comprises of 52 districts. Congratulations ladies!!


Sundown Invitation Powerlifting Meet Boys and Girls Team Champions
Sundown ISD hosted a great Invitational Powerlifting Meet held this past Saturday, and none of it is possible without so many helping hands! A huge thanks to our Senior Sponsors for holding concessions, to our Booster Club for helping with the Hospitality Room for our Judges and Coaches, our Custodian Amanda Gatica for keeping the facility tidy, Coach Dakotah Watson for helping out with entering data into the computer, to all of our table workers that worked in stressful situations to keep the meet moving forward, our volunteer spotters who managed to load and unload weights for our athletes, our Coaches who motivated, guided, wrapped, and cheered for our athletes, and lastly our Student-Athletes for going out and competing for a Boys and Girls Invitational Championship Plaque! Congratulations to both our 7th and 8th Grade Apollo Teams for advancing to the FLL Panhandle Area Competition to be held on February 15th. They recently competed this past weekend in Robot and Invention. Our 8th Grade finished as the Champions having earned 1st place overall with a 2nd place finish in Robot Game. Our 7th Graders finished 4th overall, and also earned the right to compete at the Area competition to be held in Lubbock in 2 weeks! Congratulations to our 8th grade competitors Drew Igo, Camden Bufe, Ryder Bufe, Emily Ramos-Casas, Jayden Sandlin (we also had 7th Grader Noah Pool, and Zane Perez and Eli Keen who were participants at the All-Region Band Concert but contributed greatly to our 8th grade project). Our 7th Graders were BreAllyn Griffith, Stellan Sanders, Jazlyn Huerta, Eli Rodgers, Wyatt Sanchez, Case Davis, Everett Perez, and Kobe Hogan (not pictured, Avery Belew).
A huge thanks to Mrs. Ashley Bufe for her guidance and wisdom with so many talented and knowledgeable students on our Apollo Teams!
