Sundown Middle School Students & Parents: We hope your summer is going well! This message applies to our students entering SMS for the 24-25 School Year! Dress Code Change, we are no longer allowing our young ladies to wear wind shorts to school. We had too many issues with this last year and decided to remove them. On a positive note, this is a reminder that SMS IS BUYING ALL SCHOOL SUPPLIES!!! For all of our students at SMS, we have purchased all of the school supplies for the upcoming year. Mrs. Belew and our 7th-grade class completed the blanket fundraiser and raised enough funds to buy all supplies for the school year. In addition to this, we have also purchased a backpack for everyone. If you are wanting to purchase any items yourself, including a backpack, you are free to do so. We have received most of the items at this point, and are working to organize them and have them ready for the start of school! Another big round of applause to Mrs. Belew for organizing this fundraiser for our community. More information to come.

63 SHARES!!! We had 63 Sundown faculty, staff, parents, friends, board members, former board members, alumni, and Sundown families that helped to spread the word to help us fill our teaching positions! We are grateful for the shares, but even more grateful for the kind words that were shared about our students, staff, faculty and administration at Sundown ISD! We work our kids hard and love them harder. Thank you Sundown Community for your help in bringing quality folks to a school we love dearly. We are officially filled for the upcoming school year!

Mrs. Tiffany Wylie provided such great support to our teachers and our students! She was always willing to step up and help out when the need would arise! She was a huge asset to our campus and will be dearly missed! She has a gift for helping and serving, and made a huge impact on the cheerleaders she led and the students she helped along the way. She will be missed at SMS! Thanks Mrs. Wylie!

A huge thanks to one of the OG Math teachers, Mrs. Cara Marek! Her legend grows as she has been comparable to Mr. Dewayne Fryar, Mrs. Darla Lacy, Mrs. Dusty Precure and so many other great math teachers at Sundown ISD! She held kids accountable and produced great results for our students! She was tough, but the kids are better for having had her as a teacher! She will be missed and we wish her well! Thanks Mrs. Marek!

As this year comes to a close, we want to wish Mrs Toni Garcia farewell. We are grateful for the investment she made to our students at SMS the past few years! Her love for her beloved Roughnecks and Roughettes did not go unnoticed. Her classroom was full of love and adventure with so many fun and engaging activities day in and day out! Her invitational classroom setting allowed for all students to grow, and made learning fun! She will be missed and we wish her well! Thanks Mrs. Garcia!

Mr. Mauldin was given an opportunity to speak with the Servant Leadership Association for Music [Slam] Culture for their May 2024 edition, "Pursuing Leadership Mastery". He had a chance to visit with Steve Andre and Frank Tryoka in regards to our Sundown Band, our Program and our Sundown Community. He speaks about the challenges that have come with competing at the State Band competition while staying true to the red, white and blue, and also speaks on some of the leadership programs he has in place for our members of the Pride of the Oil Patch!  https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bb5Y0GN9iDQyNTGmEMO6K3kfQjBcLoai/view?usp=sharing
