Last weekend our GT students went to the DFW area for a research trip. This trip serves as an opportunity to visit locations related to students' independent research projects, to allow the students to participate in team-building and leadership activities, and to do a service project.
They were able to visit a structural engineering firm to see some of the projects, 3D modeling, and floor plans, and get insight into college and career options. They also visited the Dallas World Aquarium, played a round of disc golf, and went to a Stars game.
Due to the lodging this year, the students had the unique opportunity to team up and cook meals for each other, with one group also making 12 dozen cookie bars to take to the Austin Street Center where they prepared and served lunch to those in the shelter.
The kids also enjoyed an afternoon at Group Dynamix, a team-building event center.
These students are so very thankful and grateful for the Sundown ISD school board for allowing them the opportunity to have these experiences.
